The RPM Series utilize state-of-the-art optical and imaging technology. Many facets of the technology originated with our development of the Smart Raman Spectrometer Demonstration Unit project as part of the Mars Instrument Development Project program for NASA Research – an experimental Raman analyzer developed for a future Mars Lander to analyze geologic samples. We have been able to commercialize these developments and develop the new evolution in Raman for process monitoring.

The RPM series features several new technological advances in Raman. First, a unique continuous automatic frequency scale correction, NeXCAL, provides permanent calibration. NeXCAL essentially references each and every sample scan against neon standard. This insures that calibrations are maintained over a long term and instrument drift is eliminated. This is absolutely critical in monitoring processes 24/7.

In addition, intensity corrections are facilitated through the use of NIST Standard Reference Materials. Again, each scan is referenced against a NIST SRM to maintain instrument stability.

Another advance includes a new benchmark in signal to noise ratio that allows the RPM Series to analyze a wide variety of applications. Through the use of innovative state-of-the-art spectrographs, CCD cameras, lasers and probes, the RPM demonstrates the flexibility to utilize those components that offer the optimal performance for any given application. To the end user, this means providing a cost effective configuration through selective utilization of the optical system and the components that create it.
