The 931C PGC can be connected to optional Network Interface Unit (NIU). The standard software package will provide networking with two independent serial GC-FIELDBUS networks. Each network is capable of supporting up to 32 PGCs over a cable distance of 1800 m (6000ft). This system can be made redundant for the 32 PGC's or up to 64 PGCs in a non-redundant cabling configuration. This package allows full display, storage, recall, and reporting of data and programs from multiple PGCs. Full program modification and chromatogram diagnostics are available from a PC workstation connected to the NIU. The system provides interfaces to Distributed Control System (DCS) protocols, including, Foxboro standard protocol, Modbus and several other custom protocols.
Sixteen digital inputs for monitoring the analyzer or sample conditioning functions are provided as standard. Inputs are sensed by contact closure to common ground. The inputs are assigned as follows:
1. Low carrier gas pressure
2. Low instrument air pressure
3. Low sample system pressure
4. Detector failure
5. Low calibration gas pressure
6. Spare
7. Low oven air pressure
8. Spare
Digital outputs for reporting data or system alarms are optionally available. Each output may be assigned to any peak on any stream.
Up to sixteen (16) analog outputs are optionally available. These trend outputs are used to report concentration data from any assigned stream and measured component (peak). Each output is an isolated 4 to 20 mA signal proportional to the measured range, updated at the end of the measured cycle.
Two non-isolated analog input channels are available for reporting data from external (other) analyzers or measurement devices. The instrument can also accept 0 to 10 V dc signal range. The data values are then integrated into the system data reports or alarm formats from the 931C.
The analyzer is also capable of operating as a stand-alone unit. Direct interface to a CRT terminal, printer, Modbus, or personal computer is available via the serial ports. A multifunction operator interface panel is a dedicated service panel providing a user-friendly, Window Oriented Interface (WOI) display for program editing. Dedicated function keys are available for fast maintenance functions. "Help" displays to simplify operator learning and troubleshooting are accessed via the multi-function keypad.
