ORBITAL ACQUIRES FOXBORO'S PROCESS GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY PRODUCT LINE
(Pomona, CA, 24 April 2000) - Orbital Sciences Corporation (NYSE: ORB) announced today that it has completed the purchase of The Foxboro Company's Process Gas Chromatography (PGC) product line. PGC analyzers are widely used by refining, petrochemical, natural gas, chemical and other industrial producers to measure chemical composition of process streams. Financial terms of the purchase were not disclosed.
Orbital will integrate the PGC product line into its Applied Instrument Technologies (AIT) business unit in Pomona, California. Orbital's AIT unit will assume responsibility for the ongoing service and support of the PGC products that are currently installed with customers, as well as the production and sales of new systems.
Mr. Joseph V. LaConte, Vice President of Orbital's Applied Instrument Technologies unit, said, "PGC products represent the largest market opportunity within the process analytical instrument industry. Orbital's acquisition of the Foxboro PGC product line will position us to better serve our customers with an expanded product line for these markets."
The PGC product line will complement Orbital's already broad offering of process analytical instruments that include the Analect FTIR, MGA Process Mass Spectrometers, PIONIR Near-Infrared, and CS 200 Flow Injection Analyzers.
Under marketing agreements signed by both companies, Foxboro will continue to be a worldwide reseller of the PGC products. John McKenna, President of Foxboro's Measurement and Instruments Division said, "The marketing alliance between Orbital and Foxboro represents a unique opportunity for our customers to benefit from the strengths of both companies."
Applied Instrument Technologies is a part of Orbital's Sensor Systems Division that is certified to ISO 9001, an internationally recognized standard for quality engineering and manufacturing processes. This division has over twenty-five years experience in manufacturing rugged and reliable process analyzers with an installed base of over 2,500 systems worldwide.
